Beginning a New Course of Study
While the title may be a bit misleading it is quite a good summary of what I am going to do over the next couple of terms. I have applied to the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary here in Pittsburgh to take a couple of courses for credit over the next couple of terms, as well as next school year. My purpose for doing so is to both broaden my theological horizons past the mainline seminary I now attend (Pittsburgh Theological Seminary) and to allow for a more relaxed theological environment in which to learn. I must be honest in saying that it will be refreshing to sit in a class and not have to defend basic Christological orthodoxy and watch as "Reformed" theology is misconstrued, masticated and spit out. This may also lead to me working towards a M.A at RPTS, we'll see...

As we say down South, "Good on you!"
Let us know how the classes compare.
I hope you have some fun with your fellow fundies! ;)
Any flack from the Administration at PTS?
When I met with the PResident of RPTS today he asked me to do the same thing Toby, compare classes from the two seminaries, and let him know what I think. I am really looking forward to this opportunity.
Sounds like a good choice. I'd second Toby's comment - I'd be very interested to know how the two compare.
May the Lord bless your studies, Benjamin. And I'm hoping our good Covenanter friends will rub off on you a bit!
Two seminaries at the same time?!!! Glutton for punishment.
BTW, my former pastor teaches Greek there:

Aw man... I just looked at the classes they're offering and I want to take two of them this coming term.
I really need to stay off of other seminaries websites...
Now why did you have to go and say that, Gary. I just looked at their schedule and there's SIX classes I want to take.
For those who would like to know I am taking PT 12- Ministry of Worship
Oh and by the way... In the Spring they are offering a class on the Westminster Divines!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, if Pres. O'Neil does give you his ear, complain to him that the RP Seminary is not in that Pittsburgh Conglomorate or whatever its called where we can take classes at Pitt, Duquene, CCAC, and I think Cargnie Mellon but register through PTS.
I WOULD LOVE to take classes at the RP Seminary. Specifically with my former pastor. Him teaching would probably make me look forward to a NT class. If I never mentioned it, I'm focused on OT studies and really would be quite happy to never look at the NT. ;)
