READ YOUR WESTMINSTER CONFESSION!!!!!!!

Read it carefully and with purpose and you may just find things in there that will blow your mind and show you how off the deep end theologically the PC(USA) has gone away from even a modicum of respectability concerning its own confessional statements.

That is all.

One could solve the problem concerning consistency with confessional standards by altogether getting rid of them.

What good is a map if one has no intention on following it anyways? Perhaps one could use it for toilet paper in a pinch.

The problem is that we've gotten into a Microsoft mentality with our confessions, i.e. Confession 2008 is better than Confession 3.2.

BTW: by my count, this makes 4 posts since "One More Before We Get Back To Timothy." :)

Astute observations Chip.

Especially the last one ;)

Please explain this one, Chipb. You lost me.

The Confession of '67 and the 1983 Brief Statement of Faith conflict with Westminster (formerly called simply "The Confession of Faith") and are seen by many in the denomination as "upgrades" replacing the outdated Westminster Confession.

-This is something particular to the PCUSA?

-My wife was OPC growing up so I've heard a little of the problems with the PCUSA, Machen, and Van Til through her. I have in-laws still in the PCUSA (one a former minister therein) and relatives on my side back in Ca.

Benjamin - one could also try the same experiment with the Bible - and come up with pretty much the same result.

Read and attempt to understand the WC? Surely, Benjamin, you have been misusing your course of study at the PCUSA seminary you attend! I mean, its so 'last century'. Who cares what stuffy old puritan dead guys think? What did they ever do for the world?

(I am an insufferable smarty aren't I?)

Droll Flood, while I was at seminary, I did a paper on the differences between the WCF and the Con67 with regard to their views on Scripture. Certainly those are light years apart and contradictory. What would you point to with regard to the Brief Confession of '83? It's been a while since I've read it, but I remember it being so watered down that it could mean just about anything.

This actually makes a lot of sense. If Westminster is Windows 3.1, and the Brief Statement of Faith is Vista, that makes C-67, what... Windows ME?

That would explain why the church is always short on memory, freezes up when it's asked to do two things at once, and refuses to run new programs.
